Easily slide deer one person

Easily slide deer one person

“It was dark by the time we had found our deer. We’ve also been using “Big Slider” for a lot of useful things out around the yard.” – GG, WI

Gary shows us how to easily move heavy doe with one person. Great for the alone or solo hunter. And, it’s helping out with yard work, too. That’s why we call them “utility” movers! — Jeri

Video Transcript:

My name’s Gary. I’m going to demonstrate the BigSlider. I live in an area for deer hunting. We have to shoot a doe – it’s called herd control or “earn a buck.”  We have to shoot a doe before we can shoot a buck. In this situation, here’s my doe. I shot my doe, filled my doe tag. Now I can hunt my big buck.

Here’s BigSlider put to use. Put the doe on the slider, got it out of the woods. But this is how easy she sled. I wanted to demonstrate it coming out of the woods, but the camera wasn’t with us. Didn’t anticipate this happening tonight…but same situation.  Right there.

That’s how easy she slides. All to BigSlider – makes things a lot easier. Here’s one-handed!

Didn’t have BigSlider when I dragged it out of the swamp – it was son-of-a-gun getting it out of the swamp – but, there you go. Thanks BigSlider!

How to attach deer to BigSlider

Here’s how the guys attached the deer to BigSlider.com heavy duty tray to easily move deer sliding on BigSlider.

1. The tray has two holes drilled in each end. Thread the rope through one hole, then through the pipe, then through the other hole.

2. Pull the pipe off the tray and roll or slide the deer carcass on to the tray.

3. Now bring the pipe over the neck to secure the carcass as shown in the photo. Hook the rope around the lowest antler to prevent it from dragging on the ground.

4. Thread second pipe through rope ends at palm level, and make sure to leave enough clearance to walk in front of the antlers.

5. Once you start pulling, the pipe and ropes will tighten to further secure the carcass.

Never load the tray with more than you can easily pull. Have a safe hunting season!

“Just show ‘em how easy it is to pull with just one person. This is good for the alone hunter. No, he couldn’t pull that by himself…Nice job!”

Thumbs up: “Works good!”

How to get help from the US Postal Service | Tip of the Day

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

I had a great experience today with the US Postal Service tracking down a registered package. Did you know there is a Postal Service Postal Customer Council? Here’s a link to the Houston area group. I’m assuming they have similar groups in other areas.

http://houstonpcc.com/houston_usps_contacts

With the exception of the Consumer Affairs / Complaints and Inquiry phone number — for which there was no voicemail — every phone call followed by an email was promptly returned. They were able to locate my registered package, let me conference in my customer, and held it for pickup at the destination before the delivery trucks were loaded out in California. Thanks Sandra Beridon!

How to get on Cool Tools DIY Network with Chris Grundy

Cool Tools, Chris Grundy, National Hardware Show, Popular Mechanics Editor's Choice Award, Top Tools

Happy Day! Roy, Chris, and our friend John

We’ve had two inquiries in the last two months asking how we got on Cool Tools. Here’s how it happened for us:

We were at the Handy Hardware show (a local show in Houston) and met a guy who thought we should meet his uncle, John Shoemaker, inventor of the CreteSheet™ . John advised us show in the New Products area of the National Hardware Show.

Before the NHS, Roy Berendsohn of Popular Mechanics called to ask us for our product (BigSlider™ Professional). Of course we sent Roy one immediately because Shoemaker told us CreteSheet™ won the PM award the year he launched. We were hopeful!

In fact we did win Popular Mechanics Editor’s Choice Award for Top Thirteen New Tools of the show — WooHoo! That year, PM had partnered with DIY Network’s Cool Tools to review the winning products in a special episode. Our  clip from the NHS went into a subsequent Cool Tools episode called “On the Move” which aired for an additional 13 months. We had a great time with Chris Grundy!
If you’re a solo inventor, I know what you’re thinking…so how much does all this cost? Total to prep and attend the show: approx $15,000 (we had travel, hotel, advertising, a double booth and some rented furniture — as you can see in the DIY clip). We also made first contact here with amazon.com – which is an AWESOME customer to work with.

And thankfully, Shoemaker graciously hauled that 90 lb cement bag out to Las Vegas for us.

What’s been your experience in launching a new product?

One customer used her Professional model to help a neighbor…
“I used it to help my neighbor move some cases in her trailer the other day and it worked awesome! She is starting a business in Bronte. She is going to do monogramming and silkscreening. Her husband saw me later in the week and he was very impressed!”

Popular Mechanics Editor’s Choice Award

How it works: High-density polyethylene (HDP) is among the most slippery solid substances known to man, and it’s also among the toughest. Place any heavy load on this HDP plastic sheet, and you’ve got a sled that moves heavy loads like nobody’s business.

Why it matters: A wheeled platform of some kind (i.e. the hand truck, wheel barrow or dolly) is handy but imperfect. If you’re working alone, how do you get the load on to it in the first place? With this mover, you simply tip and pivot the load onto the sheet, then slide it where it needs to go. It moves loads up to 500pounds over carpet, grass or even rough concrete or dirt.

They said it all!

Greetings from Jeri
