Gifts for Gardners?

The Christmas season is now over, but the "post Christmas shopping season" is in full swing!

Now is the time to begin thinking about buying gifts for your loved ones in anticipation of the New Year. For your friends and family who are gardening enthusiasts, think about the upcoming garden chores and all the work involved in preparing their gardens for Spring. Many gardeners have moved heavy plants into protected areas to protect them from the cold winter weather. These heavy objects will have to be moved back to their preferred locations for display or to take advantage of the changing sunlight. Your special gardener will appreciate the simplicity of dragging these heavy potted plants around instead of lifting them or rolling them around the yard.

With its ease of use and easy storage, there is no better gift than a BigSlider™ Utility Mover.

Working with leaves with BigSlider™

Moving heavy stuff around is what we built BigSlider™ for, but it has more uses in a variety of ways.

Take a look at how BigSlider™ can help you picking up and bagging your leaves. It makes a great scoop and is handy for holding the lawn bag open for you while you fill it with the leaves you just scooped.

After you have filled several bags, you can use your BigSlider™ to move multiple bags at once to the disposal area.

Moving heavy things by yourself

Shop owners of all kinds have heavy things that they have to move around the shop constantly. What a relief to have a BigSlider™ in the shop to make your life easier!

Here is a short movie of one man moving an engine block around in his shop without strain. Not everyone needs to do this, but imagine what kind of heavy stuff you have to deal with that you could move with this tool.

Another example of heavy stuff being moved is this video of someone moving a barrel of chains through his workspace. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to have to move something like this without a BigSlider™ to help me out!

Moving multiple heavy objects

One way that the BigSlider™ saves effort is by allowing you to move several objects at once, saving you trips when you have a lot of moving to do. The rope and handle that comes with the BigSlider™ is used to help hold the objects, which could be boxes or coolers or lawn bags, in place while you drag them from where they are to where you want them.

In this clip on Youtube, the founder, Jeri, demonstrates how you use the rope to move three coolers at once.

As simple as the BigSlider™ is, it is also very flexible and adaptable to different uses. Write us and let us know creative ways that you have found to use our utility mover and we will put your stories up where others can see them and learn from them how handy this tool can be in widely varied situations and circumstances.

Moving Truck Rental?

Looking to rent a truck for a moving job? If so, that means that you plan to load and unload the truck yourself, maybe with a group of friends. I did that many times when I was younger, and I remember how much work it was and how quickly my friends found other commitments on moving day.

Getting all of your household goods out of the house and onto the truck is a big job, but unloading and getting everything into your new abode seems even harder. Maybe it is because you have seen all those boxes once already, or maybe it is because all the people who were there to help you load are not around to help you unload. Whatever the reason, anything you can do to make the job easier and reduce the workload is worth looking into. Fortunately, Bigslider is available to make moving all that weight in and out, up and down stairs, and around corners less of a chore! One Bigslider thrown onto the truck as part of your moving equipment can eliminate the need to pick up those heavy things to get them onto a cart, and it takes up no space in the truck. Just lean it up against the wall or stuff it between some of those big boxes of books!

Our Professional Utility Mover will handle several heavy objects at one time, or several boxes of books stacked together. If your space is tight, like moving into a smaller apartment or maybe a dorm room, we have a smaller version in the Yard Pal. This item is small enough to fit through pretty much any interior door without a problem.

Do your self a favor and get one of our movers before you rent that truck!

Moving firewood without back strain

The first time I really screwed up my back I was carrying a sheet of plywood up a three-run staircase. I’d heard that putting a piece of plywood between my box spring and mattress would ease the aches I felt every morning from sleeping on a too-soft mattress. Since then I’ve spent many days in bed, waiting for one back spasm or another to cool down so I could walk pain free again. I know to lift with my knees, and I have a two-wheeled hand truck that I use when I move heavy stuff, but anytime a new product comes along that will keep me pain free, I try to check it out.

My hand truck doesn’t do very well on the lumpy lawn but my new Big Slider works great. It’s a heavy duty, five-foot long by two-foot wide strip of super slippery HPDE plastic with a handle on one end. I used it on Sunday to tow firewood from the edge of the woods to the front porch. Dragging the wood on the Big Slider was an almost friction-free experience, and I was able to traverse the yard, then across the macadam driveway, then up a slope right to the steps with ease. I was amazed how easy it was to move the wood. Dirt brushed right off when I was finished. I can see using the tool to move the sleeper couch, the freezer in the basement, and just maybe I’ll use it as a sled and take the baby for a ride down the hill when the snow comes.

Lean Times Make More DIYers

The recession is official, and people all over the country are cutting back. For many, that means more "do it yourself" projects, and invites more back aches and muscle strain.

Taking on new projects is easier and safer with the right tools, and we have collected a short list of items that might help couch potatoes converted to home repairmen and gardeners avoid some of those problems,

Hardware Retailing Magazine, November 2008

Hardware Retailing magazine is just the latest publication to recognize Bigslider™ in its pages.

As is true of other publications, they focused on the simplicity of the tool and its appeal to elderly or people who lift daily as a means of avoiding injury.

We continue to be gratified at the appreciation shown by people who see our product in action!

Thank you, Canada!

Hey Canada --

Thanks for your response to BIGSLIDER being picked as one of fourteen "Hot Tools for 2009" by Canadian Home Workshop magazine (Winter edition, page 21. Three words describe CHW's criteria for their Hot Tools picks: efficiency, accuracy, and ease. We say BigSlider is TOUGH. SIMPLE. EFFICIENT. But we like accuracy and ease, too!

So far we've shipped BIGSLIDER to Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia. In fact, our first retail purchaser was Rittenhouse.ca over in Ontario.

Don't know if you get DIY Network's "Cool Tools" program in Canada, but their footage from the National Hardware Show will be aired in the "On the Move" episode through January. Am I the only one who thinks having Cool Tools in the Lower 48 and Hot Tools in Canada is a little backwards?

Well, if you get "Cool Tools" you can see me (all of 130 lbs) pulling Host Chris Grundy around the National Hardware show hall - FYI industrial carpet has about the same drag as driveway concrete. They also shot our receiving Popular Mechanics Editor's Choice Award, Top 13 Tools for 2008 . WooHoo!

Enough bragging on BigSlider...let's brag on YOU, Canada! You're keepin' us goin' down here in Texas...a BIG THANKS from BIGSLIDER!

Jeri

PS - BIGSLIDER is Made in Texas, USA so there's no GST or PST from what I found on the web.
