Moving Kitchen Cabinets for Remodeling

Between Christmas and New Year's Eve a remodeling professional from Wyoming called with a desperate need for the Wider BigSlider™ utility mover. His partner had seen someone in Arizona moving a heavy appliance, and "it was so easy!" he insisted they get one for their business.

He was about to start on a remodeling project and needed the wider model right away. We shipped him the demo we'd used in the National Hardware Show, where we won Popular Mechanics Editor's Choice Award for Top 13 New Tools and DIY Network's Chris Grundy of Cool Tools shot us for their "On the Move" episode. That ran show ran on DIY from October through last November - thanks Cool Tools!

And, thank you GR from Jackson WY for saving your back on your remodeling project! Plus, we hope it saves you time and money.

Pulling Chris Grundy at the National Hardware Show

"I first saw your product on Cool Tools reviewing the 2008 Hardware Dealers Show, was impressed with ease the small woman moved Chris Grundy around the floor !!" -- PP, CA

BigSlider made pulling Chris Grundy around look easy as it was, and that clip continued to be aired on Cool Tools "On the Move" episode up until August - thanks Cool Tools! And thanks Mr. P for remembering us at BigSlider™ utility movers.

Introducing our Heavy Duty Tray in Field Test!

We just got our newest product delivered and tested in it our garden this past weekend. It performed beautifully!

Tip stars in our field trial to plant some new dogwoods plus a potted, rooted Japanese maple. We used the tray to handle the dirt as we moved from place to place in the garden putting in each plant.

We also found that the combination of the Tray with our original Professional model and our newer YardPal made the job that much easier.

See our field trial description on our site and learn how you can benefit from having a variety of these tools for your spring gardening chores! We also put the pictures up in a little larger format for a quick overview of the project.

Thanks Tip! You've got real "Star Power"!!

Gardening Supplies and Tools

Springtime brings gardening chores, and that brings up the question of tools and supplies. Lots of gardening work consists of moving things around the garden. Starting a new garden area might mean moving dirt away, bringing in mulch or pavers for a garden walk, or bags of sand to provide a foundation for pavers, and on, and on, and on...

A BigSlider™ can save a lot of that work and avoid the back strain that comes from asking muscles that were not used through the winter months to suddenly lift these items into a garden cart. You can see an example of some of these tasks in our recounting of the building of a brick patio on our web site.

We have a variety of gardening supplies/tools for different needs and purposes. Look over the full line and do yourself a favor by having the right tools for the job before you begin the work!

Happy Gardening!!

My Favorite Gardening Tools

Being an engineer, I’m very particular about my tools. They have to work extremely well and last a long time. And being a designer, I’m very particular about how my tools look and feel. Functionality, durability, and beauty are what I look for.
Here are my favorites. Top row, Hermes Garden set in stainless and cherry ($330 at usa.hermes.com). I know that’s pretty extreme in price, but my last trowel failed at the weld between the handle and scooping blade, and I’ve lost the one-piece cast aluminum trowel I had. And, the handle feels so smooth and sculptural it takes some of the sting out of weeding.

My other tools (click on the picture for a larger image) are Japanese.

Bottom row (L to R):
  • Pull weeder Mont Blanc Brand Kusatori Ichiban Weeder ($11 at hidatool.com)
  • OK101 Okatsune Clippers ($39 at amleo.com or mnsinc.cc)
  • Super sharp folding saw ARS G-18 ($26 at amleo.com or mnsinc.cc )
  • Okatsune Double Pouch Scabbard, which I’m putting in a nail apron until I find a belt I like ($21 at mnsinc.cc)
  • Finally, the fabulous Nejiri Weeder / Scraper #211 (not pictured), is a small super sharp hand hoe but the blade is a little soft ($9 at hidatool.com). I had to order a new one since the last one accidentally met with bed edging and bent the sharp tip back.

Happy Gardening from BigSlider!

Lean Times Make More DIYers

The recession is official, and people all over the country are cutting back. For many, that means more "do it yourself" projects, and invites more back aches and muscle strain.

Taking on new projects is easier and safer with the right tools, and we have collected a short list of items that might help couch potatoes converted to home repairmen and gardeners avoid some of those problems,

Thank you, Canada!

Hey Canada --

Thanks for your response to BIGSLIDER being picked as one of fourteen "Hot Tools for 2009" by Canadian Home Workshop magazine (Winter edition, page 21. Three words describe CHW's criteria for their Hot Tools picks: efficiency, accuracy, and ease. We say BigSlider is TOUGH. SIMPLE. EFFICIENT. But we like accuracy and ease, too!

So far we've shipped BIGSLIDER to Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia. In fact, our first retail purchaser was Rittenhouse.ca over in Ontario.

Don't know if you get DIY Network's "Cool Tools" program in Canada, but their footage from the National Hardware Show will be aired in the "On the Move" episode through January. Am I the only one who thinks having Cool Tools in the Lower 48 and Hot Tools in Canada is a little backwards?

Well, if you get "Cool Tools" you can see me (all of 130 lbs) pulling Host Chris Grundy around the National Hardware show hall - FYI industrial carpet has about the same drag as driveway concrete. They also shot our receiving Popular Mechanics Editor's Choice Award, Top 13 Tools for 2008 . WooHoo!

Enough bragging on BigSlider...let's brag on YOU, Canada! You're keepin' us goin' down here in Texas...a BIG THANKS from BIGSLIDER!

Jeri

PS - BIGSLIDER is Made in Texas, USA so there's no GST or PST from what I found on the web.
