How to easily move heavy stone pots
May 25, 2018 by Jeri Masterson In News
Here are two recommendations for moving heavy pots around the yard using BIGSLIDER™ utility movers:
1. Grass is the stickiest surface to pull over. If your pot weighs in excess of 650-700 lbs, use the “Tail Pull” method to keep from pulling out the handle. Thread the rope through the pipe, then through the tail holes.
And, be sure to get lots of help! A 700 lb pot will be about a 375 lb pull on grass or about a 200 lb pull on driveway concrete. Clearly this is not a one-person job.
2. Your sheet is just 1/16” thick, so…
a. If the edges of the pots are sharp, we recommend “softening" them by placing a piece of corrugated cardboard between the pot and sliding sheet.
b. If the pot has feet, the point loads need to be distributed using something rigid such as plywood.
c. And, if you are pulling your pots over a section of asphalt, sharp rocks or transitions, “soften” them by laying down a piece of cardboard first.
Have a safe and productive day!
