How-to #13: Easily Polish Bulky Silver and Silverplate

October 11, 2018 by Jeri Masterson In News

Of course the best way to keep silver polished is to use and wash it daily...that's how my sterling flatware stays shiny! But for those bulky trays and pitchers that don't get used often, I have spent HOURS polishing silver and silver plate. Finally...a solution!

For one sinkful, measure 64 cups very hot water (4 gallons). Add 1 sheet aluminum foil to fit the sink, 2 cups baking soda, 2 cups salt. Put your tarnished silver and silver plate into the sink and soak a couple of minutes - NOT LONG! Rinse very, very well with water or soapy water to prevent pitting.

Voila! Your Thanksgiving Dinner party guests will be very impressed.
